Zamberlan were at Friedrichshafen’s OutDoor exhibition to reveal their Goodyear welted boots and shoes for Spring 2016
A foray into the lifestyle market whilst keeping their solid outdoor identity intact. That’s how Zamberlan have evaluated their new range for next spring anyway.
Made in northern Italy, the range will include five different boots and shoes all designed with the same ‘Goodyear welt process’.
It involves two interesting design techniques. Firstly, the fastening of the upper part of the shoe to the insole and lining by a sewn leather strip (the welt). Secondly, the insertion of a layer of filling between the insole and outsole.
This Goodyear welt process supposedly brings extra softness and flexibility to the shoes and makes them them “comfortable from the day they are bought.”
It also allows the sole to be replaced, thus giving them an “endless” life span according to Zamberlan.
The Arco is the most technical of the range, the only offering with a Gore-Tex membrane (Gore-Tex 3L XCR to be specific). This is combined with Tuscany Hydrobloc nubbuk leather and a Vibram outer sole.
The other shoes set for release include the Siena, which is a mid cut version of the classic Goodyear welted shoe, and the Florence a high cut boot version.
Also available is the Cortina (above), available in men’s and women’s versions and as either shoe or mid cut boot.
The new range should be available from March 2016.
