Chris Townsend put CAMP’s Stalker crampons to the test. Here’s how they performed
These 12-point crampons are designed for general mountaineering and can be used for hillwalking with flexible boots or classic snow climbs with semi-stiff or stiff boots. The flex bar isn’t as flexible as those on the Grivel and Kahtoola crampons but more flexible than the Petzl one.
Having 12 points means that 10 are in contact with the snow unless the front points are in use. The points are quite sharp. Like similar ones the cradle bindings are easy to fit. The large flat anti-ball plates have a smooth surface to repel snow. As general purpose crampons the Stalkers are fine. The price is quite low but the weight is high.
