Mountaineer Alan Hinkes has apparently a fan after having tested these over the last few months
Swedish brand Fjallraven has added an interesting product to its range.
The all new Abisko Trekking Tights, which are available in men’s and women’s versions, are specifically designed with hiking and outdoor activity in mind – made from a dense, high-performance stretch fabric with extra reinforcements in high-wear areas.
Part of Fjallraven’s ‘Abisko’ product family which is optimised for warmer conditions or higher-intensity treks, the tights’ stretch fabric can supposedly wick away moisture effectively for constant comfort. They also have practical pockets for storing essentials out on the hill.
The men’s version features a waistband complete with belt loops and a zipped fly that offer the styling of a trouser. The crotch is gusseted as well as low-profile, and there are flatlock seams to minimise chafing.
The women’s Abisko Trekking tights have a deep waistband and an athletic fit.
“We have seen that many people like trekking in tights, especially women. But the tights that have been available, until now, don’t live up to the demands you meet on longer treks,” said Elisabet Elfa Arnarsdottir, product designer at Fjallraven. “So we have developed tights that we would like to use ourselves; robust trekking tights that can withstand scrambling in rocky terrain, sitting down on rough ground, making shorter or longer climbs and all the fun that comes with mountain trekking”.
