Details for this month’s Skills for the Hills showcase
Chris Townsend will be talking about Gear for the Hills
On 25 March Mountain Aid’s Skills for the Hills will be in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall to offer outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to hear from and meet with some of Scotland’s leading experts on hillwalking and mountaineering.
Topics covered will include bushcraft, navigation, search and rescue, conservation, first aid and outdoor writing.
The Great Outdoors Magazine’s very own Chris Townsend is part of the list of speakers. Catch his Gear for the Hills lecture at 2pm to hear how he packs safely for his trips.
Former editor of The Great Outdoors, Cameron McNeish will also be there to impart his hillwalking wisdom. He’ll be exploring ‘Words in the Landscape’ on behalf of Mountain Aid.
Other experts set to speak include Heather Morning of Mountaineering Scotland, Mike Daniels of the John Muir Trust and Bill Jennison who will be explaining how SARDA trains its search and rescue dogs.
Exhibitors at the show will include Harvey Maps, Ramblers Scotland, Scottish Avalanche Information Service and the Mountain Weather Information Service.
The Great Outdoors will also be exhibiting and offering a special subscription deal as well as a limited number of free copies of the magazine.
Adult tickets for the show are £2 and will need to be purchased on the door. The show runs from 10am to 4.30pm.
