The Fjallraven Keb Eco-Shell Jacket is an excellent jacket that performs well and is environmentally friendly. Its only drawback is the high cost. Otherwise it might have been my Best Buy. The fabric is three-layer and the outer, membrane and inner are all made from polyester so the garment can be recycled at the end of its life. The fabric is soft with a pleasant feel. Breathability is good.
The helmet compatible hood can be cinched down to fit closely for good protection while moving with the head to allow side vision. The big stiff peak is good in severe weather but can’t be twisted to give more protection at one side like a wired one. The excess fabric when not wearing a helmet hasn’t caused any problems or discomfort.
The chest pockets are big bellows ones and easily hold maps. They have small mesh pockets inside them for items like phones. There’s also a stretch mesh zipped inner pocket and a tiny pocket on one sleeve – I’m never sure what to do with the latter on waterproof jackets.
For ventilation there are zips that run some 26cms down the sides from the armpits. Side zips like this may not be quite as efficient as ones that curve under the armpits, but they are much easier to use.
For year-round use there’s nothing really to fault with this jacket.
