This stretchy wool top has a sympathetic cut and plenty of give, but most women will find it too warm for ‘lightweight’ use. That said, it’s not a dense knit, so it dries slightly faster than you’d expect from a 200g/sq.m wool top. Seams are flat-locked and the short neck zip has a baffle to stop the zip end and puller scratching cleavage or neck. The low collar (5cm) is a good height for layering, sitting just below a fleece collar although it could benefit from an extra couple of centimetres’ allowance around the neck as I found it rather snug. Sleeves are long with thumb-loops; useful in cold weather but not relevant for a lightweight base layer. Body length is good, long enough to tuck into trousers without it causing bulging around your butt, and with no roll-up eff ect. Trekmates say this “feels just like silk” but I disagree; it feels like wool, and women with sensitive skin or any kind of reaction to wool will fi nd it too coarse for comfort.
