This merino wool top is very similar in design to the Icebreaker Mondo and made from the same weight of merino wool. However it costs £15 more. The wool isn’t quite as comfortable either and I have experienced a little itchiness, especially round the collar. This weight of merino is best used in cool conditions or as a second layer over a thinner base layer. I’ve found it a little too warm in the heat. The top has a high, snug collar and a short neck for ventilation (I’d rather it was a little longer). I like the thumb loops on the sleeves – the latter cover the back of the hands when the loops are used, which is good for warmth and ensures no gap between cuffs and gloves. The sleeves can be rolled up in warm weather. The shoulder and side seams aren’t offset, but this hasn’t caused any problems.
