The Daybreak’s a fine jacket with little to fault. It’s warm (well, all these jackets are warm, but this was noticeably comfy in the butter fridge) and has some welcome features: the hand pockets are big enough for gloved hands to be thrust in (though the needless inclusion of a Rohan logo tag, sewn into the right-hand stow pocket, is uncomfortable on bare skin) and there’s an external hem drawcord which can easily be operated with a single gloved hand. This isn’t a minimalist design so a chest pocket wouldn’t have gone amiss; the two internal poacher pockets will hold gloves and hats a-plenty but, of course, you have to open the jacket to get at them. The cuffs are elasticated, allowing space for other layers beneath or for the sleeves to be rolled up, which is how I like to wear them when conditions allow. The collar gapes a tad at the rear.
