Another pair of beautifully cut, well designed trousers where there has been a lot of attention to detail. Mountain Equipment describe these as their “definitive lightweight stretch pant for high Alpine ridges, epic treks and far-flung adventures”. I guess what they’re really saying is that you can use them for anything, and you can. The Stretchlite fabric is most certainly light – these trousers only weigh 325g. They are also very abrasion-resistant and the two-way stretch adds considerably to the comfort. The ‘active cut’ includes a diamond gusset and articulated knees, ensuring that movement is easy and unrestricted, particularly when scrambling. The sides of the trousers have EXOlite inserts that provide a good balance of breathability and wind resistance. There are two hand pockets with a mesh lining, plus an inner zipped security pocket. There’s a zipped rear pocket, also with mesh lining and a thigh pocket. The trousers feature an integrated webbing belt and a comfy wicking waistband. They’re probably a bit lightweight for winter wear but for three-season use they are ideal.
