In the June 2016 issue of The Great Outdoors Chris Townsend tested a range of bags for spring to autumn. Find out why he chose this as a Recommended buy
Rab’s Neutrino sleeping bags are very warm for the weight and very comfortable. The 600 version is one for colder spring and autumn nights, and for warm sleepers would cope with most winter conditions. The Neutrino 600 is filled with PFC-free Nikwax-treated top quality down. The down is Responsible Down Standard (responsibledown.org) certified which means the birds aren’t force-fed or live-plucked.
The Neutrino 600 is quite narrow but not so much that it feels restrictive. It’s a bag that moves with you. Turning over in it is difficult. I found it comfortable whatever position I was in. The shaped hood fits round the head well and, along with the draft collar, it has an easy-to-use drawcord. The zip runs smoothly and has a thick baffle behind it. The combination of hydrophobic down with low weight, warmth and comfort makes the Neutrino 600 one of the best bags tested.
