The winners from this year’s Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild (OWPG) Awards Ceremony
The Great Outdoors Magazine’s very own Chris Townsend picked up two prizes at this year’s OWPG Awards, held 8 October.
His book, Out There, picked up the Best Outdoor Book Award and his hydration equipment test, featured in our September 2015 issue, gained the Technical Feature Award.
The annual awards, this time held on the Isle of Wight, celebrate the best in British and European outdoor and adventure writing and photography and are judged by a range of panelists from across the industry.
Chris wasn’t the only writer for The Great Outdoors to be awarded. Vivienne Crow was Highly Commended for her Wales Coast Path: Pembrokeshire in the Best Guide Book category, and Judy Armstrong was top of the lot in the Outdoor Travel Feature category for her Land of the Crusades Article in the February 2016 edition of France Magazine.
Also in the evening, The Derryck Draper Award for Innovation in Outdoor Equipment went to Pertex for their Pertex Fabric with CS-10 Technology and film maker Terry Abraham won for the Digital Production award for his Life of a Mountain: Blencathra. Best Photographer was David Forster for his portfolio of Weather Photography.
