Do you fancy a Day in the Hills?
Community Action Nepal’s second Mountain Arts Festival, entitled, ‘A Day in the Hills’ will be taking place from 19-27 October at Penrith’s Rheged discorvery Centre. With an extensive programme that includes guided walks, lectures, films, music and exhibitions; it is set to be another spectacular event.
This year’s speakers set to take to the stage between 21-23 October will get any mountain enthusiast rushing to the ticket office. Professor Terry Gifford, Sir Chris Bonnington and Catherine Destivelle give their thoughts on mountaineering. Then ‘Climbing as an Art’, sees Andy Kirkpatrick in conversation with Doug Scott; followed by Gwen Moffat and Claire-Jane Carter discussing their experiences climbing with Ben Ayers.
Several of the artists displaying their work at the festival will also give talks about their inspirations. Exhibitors include Julian Cooper and Hamish Fulton.
Throughout the festivities there will be a focus on Community Action Nepal and the work carried out by the organisation, offering vital emergency relief to natural disaster victims.
