Llanberis Mountain Film Festival unveils its line-up of films and speakers
Last year’s Llanberis Mountain Film Festival was a big success; 1,000 people attended over 40 different films at three local venues over three days.
On the weekend of 4-6 March famous faces in UK mountaineering will be heading to the village at the foot of Snowdon once again.
This year’s event will kick off with Kenton Cool who’ll be discussing some of his epic ascents around the world, including his record-breaking completion of the Everest Triple Crown.
The mountaineer’s talk will then be followed by the UK festival premiere of Sherpa – a tale of the Himalayan guides that have spent decades supporting foreign mountaineering teams, and the tensions that came to the fore following the tragic death of 16 Sherpas in the Khumbu Icefall in 2014.
Other films set for screening over the weekend include Operation Moffatt and the homegrown Crib Goch – The Red Ridge, plus All Roads Lead to Scotland.
On the second day, Leo Houlding will be sharing his tales from his vertical climb of Greenland’s Mirror Wall then on the Sunday a number of popular speakers, including adventurer Sophie Radcliffe, will be taking part in an ‘Adventure for All’ showcase.
