Aviemore Adventure Film Festival (AAFF) has revealed an exciting line-up of films and talks, and some famous faces are set to attend
On 22-24 April outdoor enthusiasts will be heading to the stunning Cairngorms National Park to watch films covering a variety of outdoor pursuits, from climbing and mountaineering to backcountry skiing.
The Aviemore Adventure Film Festival,which has been established to raise funds for Cairngorm Mountain Rescue, all kicks off with the screening of the inspiring Scottish film Transition which follows young competition climber Natalie Berry as she begins her career-transition from indoor to outside climbing.
On the programme for Saturday is Eiger Paraclimb: Defiance, and A Line Across the Sky, a documentary that follows two of the world’s best climbers, Alex Honnold & Tommy Caldwell, as they make their fast & light attempt on the entire Fitz Roy Massif mountain range in one continuous traverse.
Also on the bill for Saturday is The Last Great Climb, Alistair Lee’s cinematic treat that documents Leo Houlding and his team as they attempt to climb one of the last great unclimbed routes in Antarctica. Leo Houlding himself will be taking to the stage following the film to share his tales from his attempt at the Mirror Wall in Greenland last year.
Of the films set for screening on Sunday, the highlight looks likely to be newly-released local film Cape Wrath, showing the journey of mountain bikers Lee Craigie (who’ll be giving a talk after the film) and Andy Toop as they seek out the most remote piece of land on the UK mainland.

Outside of the main film events and talks there’ll be skills workshops and taster sessions offered by local adventure companies, as well as an exhibition hall hosting outdoor equipment brands and their latest products.
There are seven sessions planned for the festival. Individual Session Tickets start from £9 (adults) £7 (students & concessions) and £6.50 (Under 18s). Children under 12 go free.
