Ramblers Scotland has announced that Brendan Paddy will become its new director next month.
Brendan has previously worked with the Ramblers, first as interim director in Scotland during 2017 and more recently as a consultant on major GB-wide programmes. Previously, he was director of communications for the Disasters Emergency Committee.
There will be a handover during mid-June, before Jess leaves to a new role leading the Scottish Government’s equalities unit.
Vanessa Griffiths, Ramblers GB chief executive, said: “We are excited to welcome Brendan back to the Ramblers. He brings significant experience of charity leadership and campaigning – and a genuine passion for enabling more people to explore Scotland on foot.
“Jess has been a terrific director for more than four years. We have really benefitted from her vision, determination and drive – and we wish her all the best for the future.”
Brendan Paddy said: “It’s a huge privilege to have this opportunity to ensure everyone can enjoy Scotland’s amazing walking and world-class access rights.
“Ramblers Scotland plays a vital role in helping even more people experience the health and social benefits of getting active on foot – especially through its Out There campaign. I can’t wait to get started.”
Jess Dolan said: “While I’m sad to go, I am pleased to be leaving behind an organisation that is in great shape, with a strong Scottish executive committee and a growing reputation for successful delivery of major projects and campaigns.”
Brendan will formally take over as director on Monday 24 June.
