Winter is winter, and snow is nothing to be surprised about. However, in recent years we’ve become accustomed to snow largely confining itself to the hills and mountains. Perhaps that’s why snow that causes a nuisance right down to sea level can come as such a surprise these days.
The recent wintry spell in late February and early March 2018 was given the nickname ‘The Beast from the East’.
