Here’s a waterproof jacket we bet you haven’t heard of yet. Dannah is a new brand to the UK Outdoor market, but the man behind it, Richard Dannah brings with him 20 years of experience having worked as a designer for some of the leading names in outdoor apparel, including Rab, Montane, Craghoppers and Mountain Equipment. 
His new Waterproof Alpine Jacket (RRP: £320) for both men and women is the flagship garment. It’s designed to be durable, fully waterproof, windproof, breathable and lightweight (480g for a size medium) – something that would be more than suited to mountaineering or alpinism.
Unique features include a helmet compatible hood that has a flexible peak that’s supposedly been tested to flex at temperatures as low as -30°C.
The choice of membranes is also unorthodox. The men’s variant uses a high tenacity, 40-denier ripstop Porelle Dry membrane sourced in the UK, whilst the women’s uses a microporous Soft Touch of the same denier and sourced from Japan.
Both membranes are 3-layer. Dannah has gone for an environmentally-friendly approach to production and design. The durable water resistant finish (DWR) the Waterproof Alpine uses is free from potentially hazardous perfluorocarbons and the Porelle Dry membrane is manufactured in a UK factory that uses only wind and solar energy.
