With the Divide Insulated sleeping mat, Big Agnes seem to have really hit the jackpot at a very good price as well. It’s got a higher R-value that easily handles three season camping and could do winter nights by combining it with a foam mat. The insulation is provided by built in heat reflecting film that is throughout the mat.

It’s a heavy air mat, however I think it’s a worthy compromise for the warmth when it comes in at a lower price tag than the other models.

It’s an air mat with vertical baffles that run the full length, giving a rectangular shape. The outside baffle on each side are slightly higher to keep you in the middle of the mat and stop you rolling off the edge. These baffles are also very comfortable to sleep on, regardless of how you sleep, and flatten out lumpy ground.

The mat comes with a pump sack so you don’t have to blow it up yourself. The sack is a good size and you can pump the mat up quickly with good management of the sack. There is a one way valve to inflate, and then a separate one for deflating. They are a good size, but being slightly inset to the mat makes getting all of the air out a bit trickier as it all gets squeezed to the top and needs to be pushed back down to the valve. A small repair kit is also included, which has patches and a spare valve seal.

The outer material is recycled nylon ripstop which feels very tough and durable. There is an internal antimicrobial treatment to prevent the build up of any mould if you end up blowing the mat up with breaths.

The Divide Insulated packs away to 23cmx12cm, but it’s the heaviest of the air mats, however I think it’s a worthy compromise for the warmth when it comes in at a lower price tag than the other models.
