A great choice if you really feel the chill in your bum – the Demaree Canyon is not only warm but is also cut generously long, easily covering my backside (no mean feat, some might say… cruelly). The hem drawcord has only one pull-toggle, on the right, but operation is one-handed. The sleeves aren’t as generously cut as some, so can’t be pulled up and long-sleeved baselayers only make them more restrictive. There’s plenty of fleece trim on this jacket – in the hand pockets, at the cuffs, in the collar – which boosts comfort in some ways but makes it less easy for a damp hand to slide in the pocket, as that lining seems to adhere to moist skin. The jacket’s overall close fit isn’t that comfortable – I found it had a tendency to ride up during movement – and the tiny internal pocket won’t accommodate much more than the nylon stuffsack provided.
