It was the cheapest jacket in the test of all year waterproofs, but how did it fare?

Fit: This isn’t quite as shaped as other jackets but does fit well and feels comfortable. Comes down over your backside.

Material: This uses Helly Tech Professional, in another three-layer fabric construction. The jacket fared very well in bad weather though it was a little sweatier than Gore-Tex. It held out the rain and is very hard wearing.

Hood: The hood is behind a collar, a little different from some mountain jackets. It fits well and gives great vision. A helmet, if needed, fits underneath.

Pockets: Two chest pockets which are lined with netting and will fit maps. If you are in and out for your map in a blizzard or rain you will get damp through this pocket though. There are two waist pockets which are Gore-Tex lined but cannot be accessed when wearing a hipbelt. The front zip is a YKK AquaGuard.

Venting: Good pit zips for venting.

Price: £230 – a very good price for the jacket you get!

Conclusion: A little sweaty and two useless pockets on the waist but otherwise a very sturdy waterproof jacket for a great price, the cheapest jacket on review here
