I usually prefer open-toed sandals as closed-toe ones make shifting grit diffi cult. However these sandals are easier to get on and off than many closed-toe models so it’s fairly easy to remove them and shake dirt out. Closure is by a stretch lace with tethered drawcord over stretchy mesh that hugs the foot well. The heel strap has a bit of stretch too for better fit. The uppers have a mesh lining that’s comfortable against the skin. They dry fast too.
The toe is well protected, making these a good choice for those nervous about exposed toes. Indeed, you can kick rocks with these sandals without feeling it. Cushioning is good and the grip is excellent.
Keen says the fi t runs about ½ a size small. I found my usual size 9s a snug fi t but still okay. I couldn’t wear them with socks though. Compared with minimalist sandals the Turias hold the feet well, feeling more like a trail shoe than a sandal. As such, they would be a good choice for someone unsure about walking in sandals.
