Now under the same corporate umbrella as Rab, Lowe Alpine is launching a new clothing range this autumn. The Teton is a traditional-looking jacket, longer than most and made from a fairly substantial-feeling fabric. It’s suitable for year round use as long as weight isn’t an issue – it is relatively heavy. Waterproofing and breathability is provided by a Sympatex membrane. I found the breathability in rain pretty good, especially given the price. There are more expensive waterproof jackets with poorer breathability. The fabric can be recycled when worn out, hence the ‘Eco’ part of the name.
The Teton has an excellent wired hood that gives great protection and moves with the head. It’s a better hood than some on more expensive garments. The pockets are a slight disappointment however as the chest one is too small for a map. It wouldn’t take much to make it big enough. The chunky front zip has a double-flap over it, which is a more water tight design than any water-resistant zip with an inner flap.
