This new jacket from Mountain Hardware is the lightest jacket tested, but is also one of the most basic. It is made from the company’s own Dry.Q EVAP which is quick drying and very breathable – it’s the most breathable jacket here. It can also pack away very easily into a pocket – this is a lightweight jacket for high activity.
The main zip is big and chunky and there’s a single rain flap underneath that should hold off most of the rain. The pockets are too low down if you’re wearing a backpack and there’s no chest or interior pockets – presumably left off to keep the weight down. The drawcords in the hood are easy to use and the volume adjuster easily pulls it tight around the head. There’s one hem adjuster. For a lightweight jacket to throw in your backpack, or on a day out, this is a good option, but there are better featured jackets here.
