This smock is one of my favourite windproofs as it’s well-designed, comfortable and functional. The fabric is a bit heavier than on most windproofs, which makes it suitable for the most severe winter weather. I’ve worn it in a few Cairngorm blizzards. Against that, in summer I prefer a lighter windproof. The hood is designed for blizzards too. It has a wired peak and comes round the sides of the face to give great protection. It doesn’t restrict side vision either as it moves with your head. The big chest pocket is very roomy and easily holds maps and other items. The vertical zips on either side mean it can also be used as a handwarmer pocket. The sleeves are articulated for freedom of movement and the cuff s are wide for excellent ventilation. The sleeves can easily be pushed up. Like many Páramo garments the cut is quite roomy and I can wear this smock over a thick fleece. If weight isn’t important then I think this is the best garment tested. The price is excellent too.
