There are mixed thoughts about Rabs sleeping bag
As you’d expect from sleeping bag specialists Rab, the new Genesis 2 bag is well designed, well-made and feels like a high-quality product.
It’s constructed from recycled materials too, right down to the thread, labels and Velcro patch at the top of the zip, and can be recycled when worn out. However, the bag is also heavy and bulky, making it more suited to car camping than backpacking. The slick feeling fill has an overlapping layer construction so there are no sewn through seams to let the cold in. The shell fabrics are soft and comfortable.
The fit is quite roomy, with enough space to wear clothes when needed. The hood fits well and there’s a thick draft collar. The zip runs smoothly and has a thick, wide baffle inside so there’s no danger of cold entering. It is one of the warmest bags tested; for warm sleepers it is almost a three-season bag.
For summer, the Genesis 1 has the same fill, fabrics and construction, a comfort rating of 9.5° and a more portable sounding weight of 1392 grams.
