Alpkit’s single air bed offering – there’s only one size – is comfortable and lightweight and compact when packed. It’s also low cost. The shell fabric feels pretty tough so it should last. There are strips of insulating fibre stuck to the sides of the tubes in the upper half of the mat but nothing in the lower half. I reckon it’s fine for three-season use but for snow camping I’d want a closed cell foam mat as well. The tubes run the length of the mat rather than across it. Inflation takes a few minutes and is quite easy though you have to blow quite hard to inflate the last tube, which is the one farthest away from the valve.
There are lighter weight and warmer air beds but none are anywhere near this price (the equivalent NeoAir XLite costs three times as much) so for value for money the Numo can’t be beaten.
