This is a true lightweight softshell. It is made from a four-way stretch material, and is light and comfortable. However, it still holds off an impressive amount of wind and rain thanks to the tight weave. One of the main reasons I like it is its pockets. There are two cavernous chest pockets – easily big enough for a map – and two slightly smaller handwarmer pockets which are completely accessible with a backpack on. The cut is large and reasonably long. The sleeves are long too – fine for mountain biking for example – and there are thumb loops. The main zip draws up high, but the neck is wide enough for it to be comfortable. The hood is a tightly fitting one and for me just comes out a little too far for this style of hood. This is the softshell I pick up mainly for trail running, which is testament to its breathability.
