Review: Canada Goose Hybridge Lite Vest Gilet

Ultralight, warm and comfortable, this Canadian made gilet is an excellent garment. In terms of performance there is nothing wrong with it. But the cost is very high and I can’t see anything to justify this. It has the usual features – warm pockets, high warm collar, and flap behind the zip – and there’s a nice fleece collar lining. It’s not quite as warm as other lightweight down vests as the sides are made of Polartec Power Stretch fleece. As well as being much less warm than the down front and back these fleece panels aren’t windproof. The stretch does mean that the vest fits closely over inner garments of different thickness. Overall the fit is on the snug side (‘slim’ according to Canada Goose) – the Large being just right for me over a 100 weight fleece. The vest packs into its left-hand pocket – there’s a zip puller inside – to make a tiny bundle.
