This is the cheapest bag tested [July 2013]. The fill is unbranded hollow fibre which, when new, is soft and thick. The bag has all the features of much more expensive models, whether synthetic or down. The fit is on the narrow side. I can’t turn over inside it but it’s not restrictive. The shell fabrics are soft and comfortable and I slept fine in a temperature of +9ºC. I wouldn’t use it if I expected temperatures to drop to freezing or below though. This is only just a three-season bag. Two to three season would be a better description.
The X-Lite is heavy for the warmth provided though, despite its name, and bulky when packed. If cost is an issue then it’s worth considering but in this case more money really will buy a much better product.
