The latest version of Montane’s Minimus jacket is made from Pertex Shield with a Dry Touch backer that feels pleasant against the skin. The fabric is quite breathable. It’s flexible too, and the Minimus is comfortable to wear.
The Minimus has an excellent adjustable hood that moves with the head and gives good protection. It is helmet-compatible but easy to cinch down so it doesn’t feel too big. The chest pocket is map-sized. The pocket bag is mesh so it can be used as vent. There are no handwarmer pockets. The cuffs are wider than many, allowing for ventilation at the wrists. The drawcord that runs right round the hem has cordlocks either side.
Montane describes the fit as ‘Active Mountain – Close-fitting for fast-paced activities’. The Large is a bit bigger than some other Large sizes tested though, and it easily fits over a fleece jacket.
The Minimus is good value for money as it performs as well as some more expensive jackets.
