Will Renwick reviews the Outdoor Research Ferrosi Hoody as part of a comparative test
Made out of a combination of Nylon and Spandex, this softshell jacket by Outdoor Research is the thinnest, lightest and stretchiest of the jackets tested. It’s another one for high tempos with more in the way of breathability than water resistance, but that’s not to say it doesn’t offer some level of protection – it was able to repel light showers well. The material’s stretch means it will fit comfortably over a thick fleece, but I found that the more the fabric was stretched the weaker it performed against the wind and rain. Windproofing was fine when worn simply over a baselayer, therefore I think it would make for a good option for day walking in warmer months to keep the wind and light rain off. The hem and hood are both adjustable and the cuffs are elasticised.
