Made in Nepal this Sherpa Gombu is the lightest synthetic vest tested. It’s filled with Primaloft, which is soft, compressible, water-resistant, quick drying and durable. The windproof and water-resistant stretch shell fabric has a matt finish, unlike the shiny one of the other vests. I like this as it feels pleasant and soft. Other good features are the fleece linings in the high collar and the pockets. The small chest pocket is useful for a compass, GPS or phone. The Large size fits easily over a thin fleece and I can wear it over a light insulated jacket. Warmth is about the same as a midweight fleece. The price is a bit higher than some vests but that’s because of the premium fill.
