A lightweight jacket designed for the hill – but does the Snowpeak Wanderlust 2.5L live up to the high price tag? Chris Townsend reviews this waterproof jacket.
The Snowpeak Wanderlust 2.5L is very short, which is fine if you wear waterproof overtrousers with it, or perhaps for activities other than walking, such as cycling. The designers may well have had the latter in mind as the jacket has a large zipped pocket on the lower back which, of course, is useless when carrying a rucksack.
Snowpeak doesn’t give the fabric a fancy name or a technical description. It feels pleasant enough and breathability is okay. Long underarm zips are available for ventilation. The chest pocket can be used for this as it’s made from mesh. It is only small though. The other pockets are cut off by a hipbelt. The hood fits well and moves with the head. The peak is only slightly stiffened though and a bit floppy in strong winds.
The Snowpeak Wanderlust 2.5L is lightweight but also very expensive. There are better waterproof jackets in the same weight range at less than half the cost.
