Chris Townsend reviews a basic lightweight fleece for year-round use

The Cisson is a basic light fleece at a good price. The lightweight fabric has a fleecy inner and a smoother outer. Sprayway don’t claim it’s a directional fabric but it does wick moisture well and dries quickly when damp. Breathability is excellent. It has barely any wind resistance and so is very much a midlayer. Only on calm days would you wear this as the outer layer. The two-tone appearance suggests it’s made from two different fabrics but it isn’t, that’s just cosmetic.

The design is fine. The two pockets are roomy and can be used when wearing a hipbelt. Inside one there’s a small slot for a headphone cord. The double-layer collar is snug. The cuffs are roomy enough to allow the sleeves to be pushed up for ventilation. The hem does rise a little when you stretch but not enough to be a problem. The fabric stretches slightly. The fit is quite generous anyway with the Medium being larger than some of the Large garments reviewed.

As a light fleece for year-round use, the Cisson is a good choice, especially at this price.
