Sprayway makes solid, dependable gear that works without being particularly innovative or flashy. The Polaris fleece jacket is a good example of this. It’s a simple garment made from top quality Polartec 100, a comfortable lightweight fleece ideal for use as a mid layer in cold weather and carrying as warmwear in summer. It has a snug double-fabric high collar and handwarmer pockets lined with soft, warm linings. These are too low to be used when wearing a hipbelt as are the two open-topped inner pockets, which are useful for keeping gloves warm when you are stationary. There’s a fairly roomy pocket high on the chest but unfortunately this only has a short zip. The length is slightly more than with many fleeces and there is a drawcord at the hem. The weight is quite low as is the packed bulk. The price is low, especially for Polartec 100, and this is the best of the sub £50 garments.
