Trekmate’s Snow Mitts are comfortable and very warm. The fabrics are softer, thinner and more fl exible than on the similar mitts from Terra Nova and Berghaus. This probably means they’ll be less durable but it also means they weigh less. The mitts are windproof and waterproof and reasonably breathable. They’re lined with fleece and a soft wicking fabric that feels warm against the skin. There are fi nger slots inside the mitts. I’d rather not have these as one reason mitts are warmer than gloves is because the fingers are kept together. The gauntlet design means these mitts are best worn over jacket sleeves. The drawcord closure at the cuff can be operated with one hand. There’s a Velcro strap over the back of the wrist that I don’t think is really necessary. The price is quite low for PrimaLoft insulated mitts and these would be a good choice for extreme cold or as a spare pair.
