I couldn’t squeeze into the Large-size Drop Pants supplied so unfortunately can’t comment on fit or performance. According to Vaude’s online size chart, they ought to have accommodated my 38” waist (albeit with little room to spare); pulling them over my butt was hard enough, getting them over my boots proved impossible. Plenty of size options are available so my experience at least demonstrates the importance of trying before you buy and supporting your local outdoor store in the process. Other aspects merit comment. There are no side zips to ease pulling them over the boots of chaps slimmer than me. However, leg volume adjustment is possible as Velcro strips, with which you trap the fabric closer to your flesh, are provided at ankle and calf. Weight and packed bulk are exceptionally low, the price acceptable, which makes these pants desirable though the thin fabric doesn’t suggest the resilience of, say, The North Face’s off ering.
